Event Questions & Answers

What is the format for a speed dating/singles event?

When you arrive you will be greeted by our Ice-breaker hosts who will register you and supply you with your name badge and scorecard. You will be given the opportunity to unwind at the bar whilst the Xfactordates host runs-through how the speed dating works and answers any questions you may have before the dating session begins. Our speed dating evening are organised so that there are plenty of breaks for you to grab a drink at the bar and mingle further with the other guests. After the speed dating sessions have finished, don’t go rushing off, as the evening doesn’t end there – the bar stays open and the guests usually stay on and mingle to get to know each other better. At the end of the speed dating sessions, guests take their scorecards home with them to enter their results on to our website. If someone you have “ticked” has also ticked you, then you both have a “match”! The website then enables you to then view all your matches & also see a more detailed profile of each – including a photo, to jog your memory!
You can then get back in contact with your matches via email, if you wish to arrange meeting up again. Everyone’s details stay live for around 6 months after the event.

How long does an Xfactordates event last?

The organised element of a speed dating or brunch dating event lasts for around 3 hours, including the breaks, depending on the number of guests attending. Most of our guests stay behind after the event for a few drinks and since the ice is broken already, find that this is a great opportunity to get to know each other a little better. For a singles party or lock and key party the organised event lasts all evening and until the bar closes. These events usually start around 7:00 pm and go on until the early hours of the morning. Please check exact times for the advertised event you are interested in.

Can I go to more than one speed dating or singles event?

Definitely – we host several events across the UK every week, so you can go to as many events as you like. Initially, many people attend their first speed dating or singles event session alone, but after realising how fun the Xfactordates events are, they often return with their friends. Also, as most people at each event will be new to speed dating, the more events you attend, the higher your chances are of meeting that special person!

What do I say and how do I say it?

Relax and be yourself – everyone is in the same boat at a speed dating evening. 90% of people form an opinion within 10-40 seconds of meeting somebody else, so first impressions really count. We make 23-27 subconscious decisions on somebody when we meet them. This initial judgment can be broken down in the following way: 55% Visual Impact (what you see) 7% Content (what you say) 38% Auditory Impact (what you hear) Auditory impact is not necessarily accent it is more to do with volume, speed, pitch, clarity and use of expression (or conversely monotony). The honest answer based on the findings of this research appear to be that it doesn’t really matter! It’s how you say it and how you look.

Payment Questions & Answers

What payment cards do you accept? Through our fully secure payment system, we can accept payment through the following credit and debit cards – VISA, Mastercard, JCB, Solo, Switch, Electron and VISA Delta. We accept ALL cards except Maestro and Amex.

Can I pay at the door?

Unfortunately not as we need to ensure that our ratio of males/females is equal and therefore can’t risk someone not turning up on the night to unbalance this.

I have a discount code, how do I redeem this?

If you receive a discount code through a promotional offer, simply quote the discount code when you book by phone, or enter it into the discount box when booking online for the discount to be automatically applied to your booking.

Match Questions & Answers

What is a match?

After the event has taken place and everybody has entered their scorecard results onto the website. If someone you have “ticked” has also ticked you, then you both have a “match”, either as a friend or a potential partner. The website then enables you to then view all your matches & also see a more detailed profile of each – including a photo, to jog your memory! A summary of matches: Match+ Match = Match Match+ Friend = Friendship Match Friend + Friend= Friendship Match Match+ No= No Match Friend+ No= No Match No+ No= No Match

How will I know if I have any matches?

After the speed dating or singles event, you login to the Members Area of the website to enter all your ticks and check your matches. For each match you receive, you will see their first name, badge number, email address and photographs, together with their profile of interests and hobbies etc to jog your memory. You can also check to see how many ticks you received at the event, even if you didn’t tick some of the other guests.

What information is given to my matches?

The only contact information given to matches is the first name and email address of the people they have matched with. Under no circumstances do we provide any other contact details. However, with our personal profile system, you are also able to see photographs and a description, showing the likes and dislikes of each match you receive, which will help to jog your memory. This can be very useful as most of our guests find that they get several matches at an event!

Why does my match not have any contact details?

Members do not always enter their e-mail address accurately, and sometimes not at all. Members who have updated their profiles and check their matches regularly, tend to get more matches, and benefit from the experience much more than those who don’t. In a case where an e-mail is not provided, we are happy to pass on your contact details (a telephone number) to the member you have matched with so that if they would like to contact you, they may do so.

General Questions & Answers

What is your cancellation policy?

We are not able to accept cancellations, as the quality and success of our events would be compromised by an uneven ratio of males/females. However, if you are able to provide us with at least 72 hours notice via email, we will do our best to move you to another Xfactordates event. If we are able to move you to another event, you will be charged an additional £5 Administration fee.

What sorts of people go to a speed dating/singles event?

Most of our guests are professionals looking for a fun time and to meet new people. They are normal, interesting and attractive people who just don’t have time to meet other like-minded singles, through work pressures, hectic lifestyles or closed social groups. Take a look at our Testimonials page for some quotes and photographs of our guests.

Do many people go on their own?

Approximately 30% of women & 60% of men attend a speed dating event on their own. This number is higher for both our singles parties and lock & key parties.
